Newsletter October 2019

Posted by BYFC Chairman on 9 October 2019

As the nights draw in, and the clocks are about to go back we enter the Autumn period and the club is growing all of the time, and I'd like to welcome all of the new players, parents, supporters, helpers and coaches to the BYFC Family...

In this our 19th season as Basssingbourn Youth Football Club (Founded in 2000) As Chairman, I have big plans for the GALA/Registration sign up day in the Summer 2020 following our successful event in July of which feedback was really positive!!

We currently have 5 teams playing in the Royston Crow leagues, the u8's, u10's, u11's, u12's and u13's, and the Saturday soccer club and gaining new members which is fantastic!!

I am also excited by the prospect of having some new coaches in our BYFC team, and more joining all of the time, without these VOLUNTEERS we would not survive and your support and help is always appreciated!!!

Saturday soccer club;

With the departure of 8 children to our new U8 team our coach Chris has continued to build up the Saturday soccer club, promoting fun, and football in a safe environment and numbers thrive of which is good to see!!

Playing on Saturday mornings and training on Tuesday evenings, a handful of games into their football journey and the U8's are doing great taking to it like ducks to water... I have assisted with starting this team off with Huw & Salva two of the parents helping out and they are also looking to go through their level 1 coaching to help run the team. Now with a new kit kindly sponsored by TR Global  Events (thank you Tony & Clare!)

My U10's team are now in their 4th season together and our team are starting to develop and learn the game more, with the help of simon & john our other coaches the boys now play 7 aside and have moved to sunday mornings, training on thursdays. with a NEW kit kindly donated by HFL (Holistic Financial Leadership) in Melbourn, thanks for the kit it is Brilliant!!

Simon our coach is doing a great job looking after the U11's who again play on Sunday mornings, and train on Thursday evenings, the team are still looking for additional players and volunteers to assist with running the team, if anyone can help out please contact the club! Keep the good work going Simon!

Chris, and Ian have a healthy number of players in their squad and play on Sunday mornings, they train on Wednesday evenings. The team have a few girls playing which is excellent to see and of which we always promote at the club!

Rob, Chris and Matt run the U13's with and Rob shortly taking his level 1 coaching badges, they play on Sundays and train on Fridays in Royston. Again we have girls training and playing with the team which is excellent. They have a very big squad with plenty of players!

The club are in a very strong and stable position and we are also looking to purchase some steel goals for our U8’s & u10 teams to use on  our bassingbourn rec pitches, and we are always looking to make every effort to help the players feel part of our BYFC family, are currently looking at club training tops for all of the players and track suits for all of the coaches!

I'd like to wish all of the players and members of our club continued success and luck throughout this season.
